School Services - KnowledgeNET and Moodle

    AptApp Ltd is pleased to announce that as of January 2016, we are providing support, hosting and management services for KnowledgeNET and Moodle directly to schools.
    Tim and Dave from AptApp Ltd are the original developers of KnowledgeNET and over the past 2 years, we have been subcontracted by Dimension 3 to manage the Knowledgenet and Moodle services behind the scene.
    Dimension 3 have now stepped out of providing these services and have appointed AptApp Ltd to provide these in it's place.


    What does this mean?
    The KnowledgeNET and Moodle services will continue to operate as they currently do.

    Your contract with Dimension3 terminated on 20th January 2016 and to continue using the service you will need to register with AptApp Ltd using the form below.

    In registering to continue using the service, you will be signing up for a monthly contract which you can terminate with 30 days notice.
    The service cost is based on the number of logins you need for students and staff, rather than your roll size. This makes the cost of using KnowledgeNET or Moodle for part of a school more affordable.

    Services will be removed for schools that have not registered with AptApp by 28th February 2016.

    From a technical perspective:
    The IP address to access KnowledgeNET and Moodle has changed from 202.89.43.xxx to 60.234.78.151.
    This change will only affect you if you use your own domain or sub-domain to access KnowledgeNET or Moodle. In this case, you will need to update your DNS records with the new IP Address.


    Ongoing KnowledgeNET Services
    AptApp provide managed KnowledgeNET, KnowledgeWEB and SMS-LMS integration services for schools.
    This includes:
    • ongoing code and server maintenance
    • daily backups
    • weekly offsite backups
    • restores in the event of a system failure
    • support for school staff during office hours (9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, excl public holidays)
    If you have any requests with regards to functional updates or bug fixes, then please let us know and we will see what we can do.


    Ongoing Moodle Services
    AptApp provide managed Moodle and SMS-LMS integration services for Moodle schools.
    This includes:
    • ongoing Moodle code updates
    • daily backups
    • weekly offsite backups
    • restores in the event of a system failure
    • support for school staff during office hours (9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, excl public holidays)
    We will be upgrading all Moodle schools to version 2.9 of Moodle shortly. Please let us know if to do NOT want your school upgraded and would rather stay on version 2.7.

    • For moodle, annual upgrades and security patches as required.

    What is not included and is therefore chargeable:

    • Code customisation at customer request
    • Restores as may be requested by a customer
    • Database or file-system exports
    • Assistance with database or file-system clean-up
    • For Moodle, installation of additional modules (can done on a time and materials basis)
    • Purchasing and installing dedicated security certificates
